The history of Allestimenti Portanuova begins in 1946 in Milan, when Silvio Bonfanti founded a carpentry business in Corso di Porta Nuova, where it would stay until 1952. That year the offices and factory of A/P moved to via Adamello 9, where it still remains today. The first projects included collaborations with important architects and designers such as Giò Ponti, Ignazio Gardella, Marco Albini, the BBPR, Castiglioni and Marco Zanuso. As television ownership became widespread, A/P also started installing antennas on the roofs of Milan. The factory grew to a company of 60 carpenters, managed by the19 year old Giorgio Bonfanti. Clients included La Rinascente, Il Teatro alla Scala, La Rai, La Fiera Campionaria. These important collaborations lasted for many years and allowed the company to complete projects that are part of the Italian design and architecture heritage. A/P has completed prestigious interior design work for shops, museums, exhibitions, offices, private houses and set designs for demanding clients nationally and internationally. Since the year 2000 A/P has specialised in the naval sector, undertaking the interior design of luxury yachts for important shipyards. This includes the structures and compartments, furniture and, on request, decor such as wallpaper, painting and glass works. In years of rapid technological progress and new design demands, A/P remains up to date with the latest innovations in the industry, thanks to the experience of its employees and our collaborations with valuable external consultants. The satisfaction of our new and recurring clients is at the heart of this family business, now in its third generation. Today, the ambition of Francesco Bonfanti, who has managed the company for the last 20 years, is to expand the company in new sectors, keeping the quality and innovation that has characterised the history of A/P.
